Toyota Camry Transmission Problems
Today I noticed during my car parked at start up there was a ticking sound towards the front end of the engine. After maybe about a min or two it quieted down a lil but it is still noticeable when your standing in front of car. I can't seem to figure out if there is a problem with the fuel pump or if the transmission is slipping as to my previous comment on acceleration delay from a stop.

Today Aug 31 2019, I test drove the above vehicle. 2 things I noticed during driving. 1). At start up there was a very audible ticking sound at the front end of the engine. It was much more audible when the hood was raised, and it stopped after approximately 30 seconds with only a familiar ticking sound of the 4 cylnder engine once it stopped 2). Most important - during acceleration from a stop, the vehicle seemed to bogg down, and feel like the fuel was not feeding properly, or the transmission was slipping. Once the vehicle reached 15 mph or so, it seemed to drive normal. I did not have a chance to drive on the freeway, only city streets. The acceleration should be of major concern.

When driving the car on city streets and highways the car hesitates feels likes the transmission is slipping or the car is having trouble shifting at some points the car shifts really hard causing a whip lash effect, the car normals does this at about anywhere from 45 miles per hour up to 70 miles per hour. At higher speeds such as 92 miles per hour to be exact the car continues to just hesitate non stop as if is struggling to go that speed?.

Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 1999 Toyota Camry 7
While driving at a steady speed, the car (which is an automatic) went out of gear and slipped into neutral. As soon as I realized what had happened I jiggled the shifter (it was in d2) and the gear seemed to re-engage and I continued driving without any problem. This has happened a half dozen times.

In extremely cold weather (less than 20 degrees)the transmission slips when first driven in the morning after minimum 4 minutes idling. Engine rpm 3000 vehicle speed 1-2 mph. Transmission will slowly engage as engine warms up. Also engine and stability control light come on while transmission slips. Transmission will not slip on every cold day it happens whenever. In warm weather, also when the engine is warmed up there are no problems. Transmission was replaced with a rebuilt from Toyota but it still happens just a little less often. A year later December 2014 cold weather coming , I'm afraid the transmission will slip again. The local Toyota shop should be considering an electrical or computer problem.

Unintended acceleration not caused by the accelerator at least a dozen times over the 2 years I owned the car. The first time was about a month after I bought the car used. As I entered my garage at a creep, I felt the transmission drop into the lowest gear then the car leaped forward. My foot was off the accelerator and poised over the brake petal as I was almost in my parking position. Shortly thereafter, I took car to the t. Dealer who reprogrammed the transmission. Similar sudden acceleration in several scenarios occurred at least a dozen times over the next 2 years at low speeds. Each time the sudden acceleration occurred instantly when the transmission dropped from a higher gear into a lower gear. I am a back yard mechanic and have been driving for over 50 years. I feel that one of two things could be wrong. 1. The wrong transmission oil was used. Of the 4 vehicles I have had here, the Camry was the only one which would climb over a one inch edge at the garage entrance without using the accelerator. The Camry did not have much transmission slip which could be a design fault or more probably an oil with the wrong slip characteristics. 2. The transmission lock-up that comes on in overdrive was malfunctioning.

Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry 12
I bought a 2009 Toyota Camry le in September 2008. I was still driving my old car until I sold it in March 2009. When I started driving the new car more, I noticed that occasionally the car would hesitate and it seemed like it was in neutral for a couple of seconds when I let go of the accelerator and step on it again. This happens maybe several times a month. Since I got stuck in the intersection for a couple of seconds, that really scared me. People were waiting for me to cross the intersection, but my car wouldn't go. I can see someone rear-ending my car in the future because of this problem. The car also gets stuck in the middle of the road when I slow down and then step on the accelerator. I googled the problem and found that many, many people have the same problem. Use the words '2009 Camry' and 'transmission problem' if you want to google it. People complain that the transmission slips. I believe that is what my car is doing. I brought my car to the dealer to have them fix the problem yesterday. They had my car all day for that and a 5,000-mile service. I was so disappointed when I got my car back and they said that the transmission was normal. They test drove it and didn't get that problem. I am really concerned about this because my car is under warranty and I complained about the problem and the dealer said that it is normal. There is something wrong with that! I think that is a dangerous car and the dealer is denying that the car has this problem. I feel like they do not honor their warranty. The consumers are being ripped off. I also complained about my vent button releasing every three minutes on cold, rainy days. They also could not duplicate the problem. So, I am still stuck with that problem and nothing has been fixed under warranty. Please investigate and have Toyota recall the cars with transmission problems. New cars should not be like that.

Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry 14
I purchased a 2008 Toyota Camry se with a six speed automatic transmission. The transmission started slipping at about 750 miles. It has gotten progressively worse. I thought maybe there is a break in period until it slipped when I pulled out of a parking lot on to a very busy street. The transmission just quit the engine raced but the car wouldn't accelerate. As I was in traffic I tried to coast to the right side of the road. I guess I still had my foot on the accelerator pedal. There was a loud bang and the transmission started working again. As I was trying to avoid an accident and was pulling to the right side of the road the sudden application of the transmission shot me up and over the curb damaging the right side wheels and the front bumper. I took it to the dealer and they told me there was nothing wrong and the transmission had no codes and they could do nothing about my concern. I researched this condition online after speaking with the service advisor to see if others were having the same problems. I found hundreds of cases just like mine. One referred me to Toyota web site. There was a phone number so I called and told them what was happening. They gave me a case number and told me they would contact me. The next day a paul timberlake from Toyota called and told me there was nothing they could do about it. He mentioned that the dealer fowler Toyota in norman oklahoma couldn't get it to act up. He then told me 'the condition was normal. ' I was shocked. I told him the black spot on the curb was still there. He said 'well you cant prove it that the transmission caused the accident. ' again I was shocked. The problem is this condition is going to cost someone their life. There is a petition being circulated by owners such as myself. This condition is dangerous because it could and does happen at any time. Mr timberlake also said 'the dealership told me that you have never changed the oil. ' I was again shocked. I changed the oil myself and have the recipt.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 15
Camry 2007 se v6. Acceleration problems, hesitates at take off, transmission slips like its searching for a gear, smell from a/c. Engine ticks when I take off and don't let it warm up even though its warm outside. Had problems with tires, had them replaced. Loud road noise car not very sound proof. Feels like steering wheel 'sticks'for just a second long enough to scare me like someone is holding it.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 16
My husband & I purchased a 07 Camry. A few weeks after purchase, husband noticed problems. Transmission was not 'acting' right. The car would hesitate for a few seconds when we given gas or sometimes accelerate when we did not; the brakes were bad; & steering column 'shook' when we drove over road bumps or speeds > than 50. Over next few months when we took the car in for service & voiced our concerns, the service person would tell us that he could not find anything wrong with the car regarding our concerns & during one visit, they drove the car 18 miles & still could not find anything wrong. One day I was getting on freeway & tried to increase my speed, the car stalled for about 4 seconds, as I looked in rear view mirror I saw another car coming behind me at a really fast speed. I was trying to determining what to do as the car appeared to have actually shut off, when it just surged forward & I was moving again. Needless to say, this scared the crap out of me & I called my husband & told him what happened. I felt that if we did not do something, we could potentially have an accident, get killed or kill someone else. I finally called the corporate office & told them our story. They instructed us to take the car to the service dept for an assessment. After assessment the mechanic told me that my steering column needed to be replaced; my rotors were completely warped; and they may have to overhaul my transmission but were going to try & reset it to see if that would help (apparently it is run by a compt which tells it how fast or slow it to go when the accelerator is pressed) apparently the computer was not functioning properly or had a 'glitch. ' they reset the transmission & told my husband & I to drive an additional 500miles to 'break-in' the transmission & let them know our thoughts. Well, we have driven the additional miles & we both feel as if the transmission is slipping again. We are at wits end w/this dangerous $30,000+ car.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 17
I bought a 2007 Camry (6 cylinder) with 6 speed transmission in sept. 2006. The transmission slips between 3rd and 4th gears when it is cold. It works normally after it has warmed up, although it seems to be somewhat indecisive, especially when accelerating. It has been back to the dealership for normal service three times. It has 15,300 miles on it now. The dealer service department wants to reprogram the computer but does not seem very confident the reprogramming will help. I will try this before I trade it for a new Honda accord. So far no situations involving safety have occurred.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 18
I bought a 2007 Camry se v6 and have had nothing but problems with it. Transmission slips, creaking dash and windshield, a pillar airbag cover replaced 3 times, center console stack does not line up, dash is not flush next to a & b pillars (haven't seen one yet that was), knocking noise in rear strut tower (fixed after two dealer visits, they added sound insulation), driver side armrest fabric peeling off (seen at first delivery of vehicle ), radio head unit freezes up randomly (dealer cannot fix because they cannot duplicate), steering is very loose and vehicle drifts on road (safety concern, dealer stated characteristic of tire), front grill loose on right side (dealer fixed) and seat plastic rail covers broken upon delivery (dealer fixed). Vehicle also idles rough in cold weather (dealer stated bad gas). Two to three second delay in acceleration (dealer stated this is normal). Each dealer visit required me to leave the car once for ordering the part and a second time for installation. I have wasted way too much time at dealerships having my car repaired to ever consider buying another Toyota again. Over all I should have tested other cars before buying Toyota based on its reliability alone.
