Thanks for posting. As I understand it, Spotify pauses when you lock your device, and it resumes playing when you unlock it. Is that right?
Which iOS version are you using under Settings > General > About?
Under Settings > Spotify, is Background App Refresh on?
Does this happen on both a cellular connection and on Wi-Fi?
Have you opened Spotify and tapped the gear icon in the top right to see if any of the settings there help?
